On drinking alcohol whilst taking cardiac medication

Which may be unavoidable, but is not medically recommended

Lansoprazol!

If you plan to drink alcohol

Your stomach wall

Deserves a little rest

Clopidogrel!

Should you feel you want to raise some hell

Can make you feel a bit unwell

Don’t put it to the test

You have been saved

From heading to an early grave

Because your heart has misbehaved

There’s a price to pay

So if you want some wine

It might be wise to take some time

And get your doctor on the line

(Which may take several days)

A protein pump inhibitor

From your general practitioner

Could mean you’re not a prisoner

Of tedious sobriety

But if you sup

And drink that Lagavulin up

Or slosh some Laphroaig in your cup

For sheer variety

You’re still going to destroy your brain

Suffer liver, throat and kidney pain

Broken limbs, bruises and sprains

Whisky roses on your face

And as consumption spirals higher

Your situation will be dire

Your heart will swell and then expire

Which seems something of a waste

Anyway, Lansoprazol

Or possibly Omeprazole?

It is your call

See what the doctor says

However, I should perhaps be clear

That sickness and some mild diarrhea

Are side effects that you should fear

Cheers anyway…
