Those election photo opportunities (no pictures, just doggerel) and the latest Beatcroft Social

New music from The Kaisers, Kevin McDermott, Iain Shaw and Blue Rose Code

It’s been a very busy week with all kinds of pre-holiday grasscutting, motorcycle fettling and computer wrangling, as well as council activity and my first wedding as a celebrant (more of that next week, assuming all goes OK!) Off on the boat south on Sunday night for 10 days in Troon, Linlithgow and Glasgow.

That nasty cynic Elvis Voe has been rattling off tunes and verse on Facebook, and a few of his extraneous verbal doodlings are here. But first, the playlist and Mixcloud link for Friday night’s 60 North Radio show, the Beatcroft Social. Which features new Scottish releases from Blue Rose, Code, Kevin McDermott, the Kaisers and Iain Shaw.

Those Photo Opportunities…

Put that chicken down Kate

You’re causing it distress

That little lamb’s incontinence

Is ruining your dress

Alex, leave the dogs alone

For sometimes they excrete

Photographers have lenses trained

Watch where you put your feet

He’s trying to drive a steam train

Wee Douglas never fails

to blow a handy whistle

And keep going off the rails

Patrick and Lorna at the old Forth Bridge

The circus has come to town

They’re legalising all the drugs

They’re sending in the clowns

For the Liberal Democrats, it’s no surprise

If you’re on a paddle board, you will capsize

For Sir Ed Davey, it’s sink or swim

A team of divers are still looking for him

The Tories know they don’t have the ghost of a chance

Sent Rishi on the sleeper train to Penzance

On the Night Riviera, said his sleep was sound

His backpack cost £750

Meanwhile the SNP think there should be no consequences

If you lie to your bosses about your expenses

I mean, 11 grand? That’s a drop in the ocean

When Michael returns they’ll give him a promotion

Some candidates won’t, some candidates will

The would-bes, the useless, the evidently ill

In Stoke Newington Labour needs to say who it’ll be

And show just a little grace and humanity

Oh how the snappers love to see

This kind of  stupidity

So bring us more of these, please

Photo opportunities…

And what’s this? Ed Davey back on a bike

Freewheeling downhill, wobbly as you like

At least we’ll remember him, grinning and fiery

And not having to appear at the Post Office Inquiry
